For more than three decades, AB Opticians has been an independent ophthalmic practice dedicated to delivering personal, professional eye care to the community of Aberdare. Founded in 1988 by Dr B. S. Sethi, our highly qualified team provides NHS and private services, advanced eye‑health care under the Wales Eye Care Scheme, and access to the latest optical technology, ensuring every patient receives tailored, trusted support.
Our Story
We are an independent Ophthalmic Optician practice and have been providing caring personal professional eye care in Aberdare since 1988. Dr B Sethi (PhD BSc FBOA FSMC) opened the practice after a period of lecturing and post-doctorate research at Cardiff University.
Dr Sethi and her highly qualified Optometrist colleagues and front line team are committed to providing excellent eye-care and a professional service tailored to each patient’s individual needs. Along with providing both NHS and private services, they are also fully qualified to provide eye health care including emergencies under the Wales eye care scheme (WECS). Corporate eye tests are also available.
The practice has invested heavily in the latest technology and equipment to ensure the best patient care.
The practice continuously investigates and researches the latest optical lens and contact lens technology. We provide care for contact lens patients whether the patient is a new contact lens wearer or a veteran.
As an independent optometric practice we can source a wide range of high quality and cost-effective products and thereby provide a truly independent professional advice to suit your exact needs.
We provide a wide range of the latest fashions and styles of frames to suit every age group and budget. Our friendly team ensures that emphasis is placed on a personal service ensuring correctly fitted frames and accurately dispensed lenses.
With our in house lab we are able to glaze your glasses in the practice and are also able to provide a 1 hour service.
